Kanonkop & Pinotage

"Pinotage is the juice extracted from women's tongues and lions' hearts. After having a sufficient quantity one can talk forever and fight the devil."
On a sign in the tasting room of the Kanonkop winery in South Africa.

While reading Around the World in 80 Dinners by Cheryl & Bill Jamison, they mentioned the above sign and it definitely caught my attention. I am not sure the origin of the saying, whether it originated with Kanonkop or they borrowed it from another source. Some initial research has not turned up anything but I will keep checking.

Wonder how much is sufficient as though I enjoy Pinotage, I don't think I have ever had enough to make me talk forever or fight the devil.
